Match Preview – Wigan (A)

Wigan Athletic ShirtFA Premiership
Wed 28th January 2009 @ 7.45pm
JJB Stadium

Liverpool travel to high flying Wigan with a much needed 3 points the target to keep the reds in the mix at the top of the Premiership table.

Wigan are currently 7th in the table and have had a relatively good season so far, having lost only 3 times at home so far. Chelsea and Aston Villa are amongst the three sides that beat them at home, although they are undefeated at home in the Premiership since October.

Zaki is their main danger man up front, having scored 10 league goals this season.

History

The reds and Wigan don’t have too much history. Our first game against them was only as far back as 1989.

In the 9 games played, Wigan’s have only managed one draw.  In games played at Wigan, all four games have gone to Liverpool and Wigan haven’t even managed to score a goal against the reds at their ground.  Which is worrying…

  1. Another draw against Wigan, more dropped points,Afraid this is the final curtain on Liverpool winning the title.Unless the team bucks up the trend we’ll end up fighting for a place in the EUFA cup!

  2. Anyone any idea what is happening over Robbie Keane after been left out of the squad to face Everton on Sunday, Would be interested to hear other Reds’ fans comments please I still reckon he deserves a chance to prove his worth

  3. This is simply a must win game for Liverpool, how many bloody draws heve we had in the past few weeks?!! Its just not good enough! And we’re now behind Man Utd and they still have a game in hand, and i know its a long shot but i hope WBA get something against them! They do have a lot of injuries though. We definately need Torres to find his scoring form again, if he does we’re in with a shout at the league, if not, im afraid we’ll have to wait at least another year and surrender our record of league titles.
